Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Young People

Led by our trained and Licenced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Instructor, Heart-based can teach participants the skills to recognise and respond to First Nations young people experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

Why Youth AMHFA?

Youth AMHFA is culturally appropriate & effective. The course has been developed and reviewed in consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, grounding participants in social and emotional well-being from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective, and equipping them with the skills to provide mental health first aid in a culturally safe and informed way.

The Youth AMHFA course is approximately 14-18 hours long and can be delivered face-to-face in 2x 7-hour long (+ 1-hour for lunch and 2 breaks) sessions over 2 days and up to 2 extra modules (up to an additional half day) to tailor the course to the needs of the participants.
